47 • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product // Evaluation Question 6

I have embedded bellow our final thriller with our evaluation notes. I have also Included a pure text version bellow.
( Please Watch With Annotations on )

1) We used Futura bold font for the title and intro which we did on Adobe premier pro. We used this font because it is bold and clear for the audience to see.
2 ) We used a two-meter slider to stabilise our shots as well as creating a sliding effect which made our opening shot look professional and smooth, we felt this was a good choice of shot.
3 ) We used a Cannon 5D mark III , with prime lenses and a zoom lens for when we zoomed in. This is because we were shooting high movement shots for example the fight scene; therefore, we felt this would be most effective for this type of scene. The camera is a lot smaller and therefore easier to move with when we were filming the high-speed action scene.
4 ) A tripod was used in order to keep the camera stable when we were introducing the henchmen, this was to keep the film looking professional as otherwise the audience wouldn’t be able to see who they were clearly enough which would take away from the realistic mood of the opening scene
5 ) We used a non diegetic soundtrack which had no copyright for our opening scene. We used this because it built tension and worked perfectly for the fight scenes and when tension was meant to be being built. We went online to find this track.
6 ) We used after effects when creating the realistic gun shooting (blood splatter) this was done using boujou after effects which we then added these scenes to our timeline on Adobe premier pro.
7 ) We created sound effects using adobe premier pro, for example the typing the actress is doing was edited in during the editing process rather than filmed using a boon mic.
8 ) At the end of our thriller, we used futura outline bold with a fluorescent and flickering effect this added to the creepiness of the opening scene. The white writing contrasts against the black background which stands out more.

46 • How did you attract/address your audiance // Evaluation Question 5

MEDIA STUDIES
EVALUATION TASK 5
    • List all the pleasures your target audience can take from your opening sequence.
  • Our audience would enjoy the suspense and thrilling nature of our opening scene. Plus the killing that occurs within the opening sequence. Also our thriller subverts many of the classic stereotypes that occur in thrillers and so this would be a refreshing piece of film and seem very new and fresh. Unpredictability acts as a grabber of attention.
    • Our target audience was Males 20yrs to 30yrs
    • Crescendo – She suddenly attacks
    • Music non diegetic as it gets loud and is in sync to the fight scenes so it looks good.
    • Unpredictable – you don’t know what’s going on as it was just a girl working in a cafĂ©, and then suddenly two deaths, two fight scenes and blood.
    • Action – fight scenes are intense and thrilling to watch, keeps the attention of the audience, as action scenes will be considered as good scenes.
    • Blood – opening scene deaths are shocking and set the tone for the thriller
    • Guns – reveals there is going to be action
    • subverting from the stereotypes, a girl stronger then two men, that’s a shock, keeps the audience's attention
    • mysterious girl, who is this girl and how is she so skilful will keep the audience of the edge of their seats.
GENRE -
The genre of our film is a thriller, and this is clear to see due to the dark tones and suspenseful scenes in the opening sequence. Our thriller may not be a sub-genre but will be classified as a hybrid ‘action thriller’.
Other films quite like out thriller, will be the ‘Bourne’ series The story of a man (Matt Damon), salvaged, near death, from the ocean by an Italian fishing boat. When he recuperates, the man suffers from total amnesia, without identity or background... except for a range of extraordinary talents in fighting.
SETTING -
Where have you set your thriller, in the kitchen. Kitchens can provide tension, within the thriller because the kitchen provides great hiding places and weapons for the protagonist. Also the kitchen supports the plot line as the industrial feel of the kitchen, create the connotations of a big corporation running society. Our audience will respond well to this location, because it is a familiar location with a twist therefore subverted the styrtipy actions assoste wthin the structured room of a societal kitchen. This created an interesting vibe to the thriller.
NARRATIVE-
What is your plot line - A girl is working late in her workplace dining room. two janitors come in and start cleaning, they try to kill her, while… she kills the two men and this is overkill.
