In order to pull off the crazy effects in our thriller, needed digital 3D motion tacking
software.

Meet Boujou, one of the best 3D motion tracking applications ever. It allows you to take any footage and create feature tracks that scan the environment for points of interest, that have high contrast in colour depth and saturation.

After creating a feature track you are required to create what is called a camera solve. Basically this looks at all of the current feature tracks and chooses a select few that seem to hold throughout the clip, then the software, creates what it thinks is the motion the camera took while filming the clip.

After creating a camera solve we can then export that camera solve in to .maya which is what adobe after effects reads, Each of these camera solve points will become null object once imported into aftereffects and look something like this.

Once you have imported your camera solve you have a complete motion track of the scene. So we can composite anything into this scene and it will stick to the room and not stay stationary when the camera moves.
